The Color Purple by Alice Walker

I thought it would be sadder than it was. Don’t get me wrong, some horrific things happen, but everything turns out okay. I liked that it focused on a woman’s POV, as I haven’t read much from that perspective–that is, about a woman’s life, her problems, especially the victimization by men both on a personal and societal level.
