Ho Yi the Archer and Other Classic Chinese Tales by Shelley Fu

18 Oct 2014

This book includes some really entertaining stories which are especially interesting to me from a cultural perspective being a Chinese American. I haven’t had much exposure to Chinese folk tales and mythology, other than the story of Pan Gu which I encountered reading the original Mortal Kombat novel, and short snippets of the Monkey King story from Chinese dramas that my mother watched when I was a child.

My favorite story was the tale of Fa Hai’s capture of the snake spirits Bai Su-Tzin and Shao Chin; followed by Shun Wu Kong’s training under the master at the Cave of the Slanting Moon and Three Stars.
