Ideas about a new programming language for games by Jonathan Blow

Ideas about a new programming language for games.

My (first?) talk on designing a programming language for games. Given September 17, 2014.

Interesting ideas about a language for AAA game development. This talk focuses on the evils of RIAA and language features for memory management, some inspired by Rust. This talk makes me want to try to write a toy program in Rust, to see what he is talking about.

It’s not really the domain he’s talking about, but the discussion of tooling and productivity reminds me of these two projects:

PuzzleScript is a game engine, editor, and rules language that makes it easy to create 2-d Sokoban-type games.

Inform 7 is a programming language and game engine that focuses on interactive fiction like Zork.
